Learn what Members' Choice Candidates are doing/have done to make our Union stronger!

  • In 2024, helped deliver an aggressive contract after months of negotiations with Boeing to address issues members identified as important.
  • In 2019, successfully challenged wage disparity issues in Boeing’s hiring practices and delivered pay increases to more than 16,000 members (many received back pay).
  • Created Machinists Institute to ensure members have top-notch skills and empower members to promote to other jobs while ensuring a workforce for the future.
  • Investing in our members' future with revenue producing infrastructure that will offer aerospace skills training to current and future members.
  • Held first bi-lingual meetings (Vietnamese and Cambodian) to make sure members know we are all needed and included.
  • Started mentorship program utilizing 751 retirees to strengthen training on the shop floor.
  • Expanding green light training for members through the Machinists Institute.
  • Hired a staff attorney to more aggressively represent our members
  • Stepped up contract enforcement; challenging Boeing in new ways using all legal avenues available, including demanding to bargain effects of changes in policy, filing Unfair Labor Practice charges, increased arbitrations and grievances.
  • Challenged Boeing’s plan in Dec. 2018 to eliminate thousands of inspector jobs. Created a union committee to review these removals, which directly reinstated thousands of inspections. We elevated our concerns to the FAA and continue to fight this issue to preserve the integrity of the build process.
  • Continually work to improve communication and participation, enforce contract provisions, protect members’ rights and provide a safer and healthier workplace.
  • Increased strike pay at IAM's 2022 Grand Lodge Convention and ensured electronic payment option for weekly strike checks.
  • Zoom meeting option approved at 2022 Grand Lodge Convention to increase participation.
  • Commissioned aerospace experts to conduct independent analysis to rank the 50 states on the best places for aerospace so Boeing does not forget all the advantages our workforce and state offer.
  • In 2022, signed tri-party agreement with Boeing & FAA so members can freely report safety issues in the manufacturing process. Recent events make this agreement more important.
  • In Feb 2023, 751 President Jon Holden was appointed to an FAA panel to review Boeing safety processes – ensuring our members' voice & best interests are represented in this critical process.
  • Town hall meetings for candid two-way discussion for all shifts.
  • Worked to place members in a position of great leverage and will use it in the upcoming negotiations.
  • Showed up for members throughout the 2024 strike by keeping them informed, supporting picket lines and helping keep members connected and engaged on the line and at the Union Halls.
